Total, Novatek, Eni consortium presents plan on Lebanese oil fields
BARSELONA, Sep 17 (PRIME) -- A consortium of Europe’s energy companies Total and Eni and Russia’s independent gas producer Novatek has presented a plan to develop two offshore oil-and-gas blocks on the shelf of Lebanon, the country’s Energy and Water Minister Cesar Abi Khalil told reporters on Monday.
“They have already presented the drilling plan, the schedule of operations, the budget. I have approved everything. They are starting preparations, and will begin drilling the debut (exploration) well in the second half of 2019,” he said.
“I hope that commercial reserves will be discovered, and we will develop the field.”
In December 2017, the Lebanese Petroleum Administration said that the consortium had acquired the right to develop Block 4 and Block 9 on the shelf.
